Two core programs: Beginners (Level 1) and Tournament Preparation

Our program places students on a structured and intentional pathway to chess mastery within a challenging yet supportive learning environment. Instruction is systematic, engaging, and age-appropriate, allowing students to progress confidently while enjoying the learning process. We follow a carefully designed curriculum that develops players from foundational skills to advanced competitive play—up to Class A level and beyond.

The curriculum was intentionally developed to meet the needs of young chess learners who demonstrate strong potential and motivation, including those aspiring to become future tournament competitors. We are equally committed to welcoming beginners who are eager to learn and experienced players who seek to deepen their understanding of the game and improve their competitive rating.

Program Structure

While we operate under two primary programs, instruction is delivered through tiered levels to ensure appropriate challenge and growth:

  • Beginners Program (Level 1)
Designed for students who already know how to play a complete game of chess. Instruction focuses on core fundamentals, including basic tactics, introductory opening principles, essential middlegame concepts, and fundamental endgames.

  • Tournament Preparation Program
This program serves advancing and competitive players and is divided into progressive stages:

    • Introduces more advanced tactical patterns, positional understanding, structured opening play, and deeper endgame concepts.

    • An intensive, high-level training track designed for active tournament players aiming for significant rating growth, including long-term goals of reaching or exceeding a 2000 US Chess rating.

This step-by-step progression ensures that students build a strong foundation at their current level while being systematically prepared for the next stage of their chess development.

Student Benefits

Students benefit in multiple ways depending on their experience level. Developing players are introduced to critical middlegame and endgame concepts they may not encounter elsewhere, while advanced students gain structured review, refinement of advanced ideas, and targeted identification of gaps in their chess knowledge.

Ultimately, our program is designed to develop confident, disciplined, and strategically sound chess players—prepared not only to compete, but to continually improve.
