At Virginia Commonwealth Chess Kids, we believe chess is more than a game — it’s a powerful tool for developing strategic thinking, patience, and problem-solving skills that benefit students academically and in life.
Our program offers Beginner and Advanced classes to meet students where they are and guide them toward mastery.

Beginner Class
Designed for students new to chess or still developing basic skills.
Day: Friday: In-Person or Online
Time: 5:00–6:30 PM

All chess classes meet once per week for 90 minutes.

Payment Schedule
To secure your child’s place in the program, tuition must be received on or before the start of your chosen term:

Monthly: Due by the 1st of each month (flat rate regardless of 3, 4, or 5 weeks in a month)

Holiday, Weather, and Closure Policy
Holidays

We observe major holidays and school breaks as noted in our published calendar

Holiday dates are not included in tuition and do not require a make‑up
Inclement Weather

In unsafe weather conditions, class will be virtual or a recorded lesson will be provided

Recordings include review of the day’s lesson and strategy tips
Multiple Weather Cancellations

If more than one week is lost in a term, we will add one bonus in‑person class at the end of the school year
Instructor Illness/Emergency

Lesson will be delivered virtually or as a recording within 48 hours
